The area where I serve as pastor is a rather poor one where most people
live
from the land. When I say live from the land I mean that the people use
local hand tools to till the land.
Almost all people live in grass-thatched mud huts.
And so also our church, it is made of Mud and the roof is covered with
grass. Whenever there is a heavy down poor we face problems. You can
also imagine that there is not much light in a building of this kind.
The ministry is doing quit well and many people are coming to the
saving knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ. The congregation stands now
at ~40 adult members (Nov-07) not counting the very MANY
children!
Our challenge?
With all these many people getting saved we are presented with a next problem...We are running our of space and we drastically need some more suitable house to pray from.
This is the reason why we have written this page.
We need your help!
We need partners who will help us to set up the beginning of our church building.
From the description of the congregation you can imagine that there is no way we can ask our members to come up with cash for iron sheets and metal trusses and pillars to hold the roof... For this we ask the help of our friends, brothers and sisters and partners in the Lord!
As for the walls of the church, this we can do locally with the members. We can manage to bake bricks and build the walls. But for the structure that holds the roof, we like to ask you to pray and see if the Good Lord would use you and your wallet to contribute to this effort.
Our proposal
Some years ago, a group of volunteers set up a prefabricated
church-building in a nearby village. The pre-fabrication was done by a
local Christian Organization who can replicate this same church again.
We would like to organize one, two or more volunteers. They will work
with the pastor and some other local workers to put up this
pre-fabricated building.
The walls are later on done by the local congregation. They will be responsible for backing the bricks and building up the walls as the pre-fab building will ensure that the walls will become nice and strait!
